Finding the Perfect Winter Boots

Finding the Perfect Winter Boots

As the temperatures drop and winter adventures are underway, keeping little feet warm, comfortable and protected becomes even more important.

Whether they're splashing through puddles, exploring the playground or heading off on family adventures, the right pair of winter boots can make all the difference. Here are a few things we always recommend when choosing winter footwear for growing feet.

1. The Right Fit Matters

It can be tempting to size up, but when it comes to winter boots, a good fit is key. Boots that are too large can leave extra space for cold air to circulate, while boots that are too snug can restrict movement and warmth.

We recommend allowing around 1cm of growing room at the toes to keep little feet comfortable, warm and supported throughout the season. Regularly measuring your child's feet can help ensure the perfect fit.

2. Choose Quality Materials

Winter footwear works hardest when the weather is at its worst. Leather is a wonderful natural material that helps protect against the elements while keeping feet warm and comfortable.

To help maximise water resistance, we recommend treating leather boots with a waterproofing spray before wear. If boots do get wet, simply stuff them with a dry cloth and allow them to air dry naturally away from direct heat or sunlight.

3. Look for Flexible Rubber Soles

From wet footpaths to muddy parks, winter brings plenty of slippery surfaces. Flexible rubber soles provide excellent grip and durability while supporting natural movement as children walk, run and play.

Good traction helps little explorers feel confident on their feet, whatever the weather brings.

4. Encourage Independence

There's something special about children learning to do things for themselves. Features like hook-and-loop straps, elastic gussets and easy-access zips make it simpler for little hands to get ready independently.

Not only does this make busy mornings easier, it also helps build confidence as they learn new skills and grow more independent every day.

The right winter boots aren't just about keeping feet warm, they're about supporting every puddle jump, playground adventure and family outing that makes winter so memorable.
